WEST PARIS – The West Paris Memorial Day parade participants will line up on Maple Street at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 31, and begin the line of march at 11. All veterans are invited to participate.

Sylvia Allen, widow of Ashley Allen, and Faye Abbott, widow of Harlan Abbott, are grand marshals this year.

The parade order is as follows: 10:30 to 10:55, line up in front of the Finnish-American building; 11, march to the center of town, salute the American flag and sing “The Star- Spangled Banner”; march to the bridge, prayer with Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse, placing of flowers by Dorene Wilbur and crew, gun salute and “Taps.”

The group will march to the cemetery with prayer by Pastor Bruce Tyner; memorial address, Waterhouse; “Flanders Field,” Bertha DeHaas; presentation to grand marshals by Delwin Wilson, commander, Ring-McKeen AL Post 151; gun salute, Legion members; “Taps,” junior high school band trumpeters; decorating of graves, Dorene Wilbur and crew; march back to Veterans’ Monument. A prayer will be offered by Tyner at the monument, which will be decorated by Dorene and Mariah; special Memorial Day prayer written by Emery Ryerson; and “God Bless America,” assembly.

Popsicles will be served at the Finnish-American Hall. In case of rain it will be held at the West Paris Grange Hall.
