JAY – VFW Post 3335 received record donations of $3,024 during the Jay-Livermore Falls Buddy Poppy Days on May 13 and 14.
Wally Tripp, VFW Buddy Poppy chairman, along with Lynn Dunton, auxiliary president, organized this year’s distribution with the assistance of local veterans and auxiliary.
VFW Buddy Poppies are assembled by disabled, needy and aging veterans in VA hospitals and domiciliaries across the country. The proceeds from the donations represent no profit to any VFW post. All the money contributed by the public for the poppies is used in the cause of veterans’ welfare or for the well being of their needy dependents and the orphans of veterans.
Neree Simoneau, commander, VFW Post 3335, said the organization thanks the community and businesses for their participation.
