FARMINGTON – The Farmington Emblem Club, with 48 members present, met May 11 at the Quad M restaurant in Fairbanks for a buffet.

The evening is called Girls Night Out and has taken place in the spring for several years. At first, it was held in memory of a special woman, “Gram” Gilbert, who enjoyed making afghans and more for the club to raffle for fund-raisers. Later the memory of deceased members was added to the special night.

Following the meal, there is also a time for those women involved to learn the identity of their “Secret Sister” during the past year. Gifts were opened.

The Secret Sister Committee for the upcoming year includes Sandy Knight and Linda Dunham, who passed out the new names to those wishing to participate Club President Rebecca Powell read a poem about what it is like to have a sister.
