AUBURN – Auburn resident Diane McManus has been elected as a board member of the YWCA of Central Maine.

McManus is regional vice president of commercial lending and director of the Business Manager Program at Northeast Bank. With more than 20 years in banking with a specialty in small business lending, McManus brings financial expertise and experience with the public and private sectors to her new role as a YWCA director.

“Nonprofit organizations have faced challenging times in this economy, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the financial world and my experience in budgeting and business planning with the YWCA,” said McManus.

“The YWCA offers important opportunities for the families of this community, and we need to invest in preserving and expanding this key organization. Our community is known throughout the state for its high level of social capital and its willingness to help raise funds and friends to support essential organizations and services. That’s what’s happening in Lewiston-Auburn, as a whole, and particularly at the YWCA, and that’s why I’m delighted to join the YWCA board.”

McManus is the immediate past chairman of the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce and won its distinguished Small Business Advocate Award in January. Her long list of prior community service includes treasurer of the Androscoggin County United Way, board member of Central Maine Technical Education Foundation, president of the Economic Development Council of Maine and fund-raising volunteer for the Auburn Public Library, the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.
