WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will meet Tuesday, June 1, for a 6:30 p.m. potluck supper, chaired by Warren and Eva Davenport. The business meeting at 7:30 p.m. will include election of officers. A memorial service will be held remembering those deceased during the year.

Winthrop Grange will host Kennebec Pomona 4 on Wednesday, June 9.

Pomona meeting

AUBURN – Androscoggin Pomona Grange 1 will meet on Wednesday, June 2, at Danville Junction Grange 65 for a 6:30 p.m. supper. Election of officers will take place at the 7:30 meeting. An attendance drawing will be held. All grangers are invited.

Lifeguard course

AUBURN – The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston will offer a lifeguard certification course on the following dates: June 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, July 1, 6, and 8 if necessary. Combined classroom and pool time will run about 6:30 to 10 p.m. for each class.

The course will be taught by Vicki Whorton-Goodman, a certified lifeguard instructor through the American Red Cross.

There are several prerequisites for the course, including a 500-yard swim and a minimum age of 15. Upon completion, the lifeguard certification and first aid are good for three years, and the CPR expires after one year.

Course fee is $175, including materials. Class size is limited to eight students. Register at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, 62 Turner St. For more information, call 795-4095 or visit the YMCA.

Installation set

AUBURN – The National Association of Insurance Women – Androscoggin Valley will meet Wednesday, June 9, at the Martindale Country Club. The session will begin with a social time at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 5:45. Installation of officers will be held. Parenting course

BRUNSWICK – A parenting education program, Caught in the Middle, is schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Brunswick High School library.

The program for separating or divorcing parents will be presented by an educator and counselor. The four-hour workshop will address the following issues: Why is divorce difficult for children? How do children at different ages react to divorce? How can parents best help their children adjust to divorce? The workshop will examine behavior at specific ages, the impact of divorce on behavior and management strategies to effect positive change.

Participants will receive a manual that includes a resource guide. The fee is $25 in advance, $40 day of the workshop. For more information or to register, call 837-4893.
