WILTON – The loons are back. At least seven of the uniquely painted loons created in celebration of Wilton’s Bicentennial celebration and Blueberry Festival in 2003 are on display at various locations around town.

A town group wanted some of the loons to stay in Wilton as a remembrance of the celebration, so they purchased seven after last year’s celebration. The loons will appear in the spring and be put away in the fall.

The George H. Bass Loon, created by artist Selina Shields, has been set up across from Wilton Hardware on Main Street. Maps of the loon locations are available at the Wilton Town Office.

Other loons on display include In the Heart of Wilton Loon, artist Jacqueline Mc Leod, Dialysis Center; Blueberry Festival Loon, Pam Brown, Wilton Town Office; Darrell Maine Rustica Loon, Tom Merriam and Lennie Hoover, Wiles Funeral Home; Wilton Historical Loon, Pam Woodcock, Wilton library; Maine Common Loon, Bill Jerry, Key Bank; and the Looncaso Loon, Nika Nigals, Academy Hill School.

For more information about the loons or the 22nd Wilton Blueberry Festival to be held Aug. 6 and 7, contact Shannon Smith at 778-4726.
