NORWAY – Teachers at the Child Health Center’s Norway Preschool have found a way to bring the alphabet to life for the prekindergarten children – the alphabet is presented with hands-on activities. The teachers have put their heads together to present the children an experience they can associate with their letters.

Most recently, when the Q and K were presented, a small part of the classroom was transformed into the “Q & K” Kingdom. With a large piece of cardboard, some paint and colored paper, a castle was built and the children were given a place where their imagination could transform them into the king and queen of the castle.

They don their capes and crowns to sit at a table set for tea or pretend to be the royalty of the kingdom. Through this experience the letters Q and K become associated with king and queen and can be remembered through a fun association.
