SUMNER – Wayne Albert Litchfield, 58, of Sumner, died Monday, May 31.

He was born in Weymouth, Mass., on May 9, 1946, the son of Walter and Carolyn Morrill Litchfield Sr. He graduated from Buckfield High School in 1965 and the University of Maine Portland/Gorham in 1971.

He taught school at Oxford Hills Junior High School for six years, and later worked as a millwright with New England Carpenters & Millwrights Local #1996.

He was a member of the Evening Star Lodge #147 AF & AM of Buckfield and the Black Mountain ATV Club of Sumner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed gardening and the ocean. Family and friends were especially important in his life, as well as his dogs.

He is survived by his mother of Sumner; his wife, Deborah Mooers Litchfield of Sumner; one son, Matthew Wayne “DeMillo” Litchfield and Diana Lincoln of Poland Spring; four brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Litchfield and his wife Susan of Sumner, Allen Litchfield and Roberta Bickford of Sumner, Walter “Wally” Litchfield Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Sumner, and Kevin Litchfield and his wife Gloria of South Paris; one sister, Linda Richardson and her husband Don of Sumner; and many nieces and nephews.
