LEWISTON – A surprise party was held recently celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of Rosaire and Theresa Jalbert of Lewiston.

The party was hosted by the families of their five children and was held at Rolandeau’s Restaurant. Vases of fresh flowers adorned the tables and a two-tier anniversary cake decorated with pastel flowers, the colors of the original wedding motif, created the perfect setting for the night.

A collage of wedding pictures assembled by their granddaughter, Marissa, along with other photos, were on display.

The Rev. Thomas Farley officiated as the couple renewed their vows and their rings were blessed. A toast was offered by their older son, Ronald. Members of the original wedding party included Joan (Drouin) Galarneau, flower girl, and Bert Biron, usher. Mr. Biron, who made the trip to Maine from South Carolina, is the brother of Mrs. Jalbert.

Mr. Jalbert and the former Theresa Biron were married on May 1, 1954, at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lewiston. Mr. Jalbert is retired from Phillips Elmet in Lewiston and Mrs. Jalbert is semi-retired, working part-time at Catholic Charities of Maine.

Their children and spouses are Linda Goulette and husband, James, of Kennebunk, Ronald and wife, Gwen, of Charleston, S.C., Donald and wife, Susan, of Lewiston, Elaine Osgood and husband, David, of Vinalhaven and Mary Ann Jalbert of Vinalhaven. The couple has 11 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, a great-granddaughter and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
