LEWISTON – J. Herman and Theresa Dionne of Davenport, Fla., formerly of Lewiston, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married on May 29, 1954, at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston. They have three grown children, Joline Gruz, David Dionne and Linda Seamans. They also have four grandsons, Joe Dionne, James Dionne, Nathan Gruz and Danny Seamans and one granddaughter, Katherine Gruz. The entire family vacationed in Florida to celebrate the event.

The couple renewed their vows in a ceremony at the Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe in Orlando, followed by a reception at the Gayelord Palms Resort.

Their son, David, offered the toast. The anniversary cake was designed as a church in gold and white, including a 50th anniversary Precious Moment collectible.

On display was a picture montage from their 1954 wedding and events through 2004. The children presented their parents with family movies and pictures, depicting many memorable moments from their super 8mm films, taken by the couple over the years of marriage. They also received many cards, gifts and a money tree. Over 50 guests attended te event.

The couple was married while Mr. Dionne was in the U.S. Air Force and began their married life in Texas and California. They returned to Lewiston and began a 30-year career at their insurance agency for State Farm, retiring in 1994. They were also long-time active members of Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. They have made their home in Florida for the last ten years.
