LEWISTON – Douglas and Sonia Taylor, directors of the Jesus Party Pentecostal Kids’ Church, are inviting children 5 years and up to celebrate Flag Day as part of the ministry’s ongoing campaign to promote “God and Country.”
This year’s theme is “One Nation under God.” Children will gather at Jesus Party headquarters, 291 Bates St., at 6 p.m. Friday, June 11.
Special guest and patriotic mentor, Jerry DerBoghosian, adjutant of Post 22, American Legion, will lead in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing patriotic songs such as “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “America the Beautiful.”
Children will learn the origins and evolution of the American flag, the role of Betsy Ross, the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance and proper care of the flag.
Children will be treated to an all-you-can-eat ice cream buffet and have an opportunity to win documents concerning the history of famous American flags on antique parchment.
