NORWAY – Stone-Smart Unit 82 American Legion, Auxiliary, announced at a meeting that junior member Deanna Merchant was elected to the office of historian at the Department Junior Convention.

Marjy Sessions announced that 47 members had paid their dues.

Lucille Allen has purchased stuffed animals for children in a traumatic situation, and the animals will be given to Stephens Memorial Hospital and to Pace Ambulance.

Members voted a donation to the Rockland unit for its guard to go to the national convention to compete; a donation to Project Graduation; money for World War II committee for decorations; expense money for delegates to Department Convention; and expense money for Girls Staters.

Beulah Ayer will chair the committee to make improvements to the hall. Serving on the scholarship committee are Ethel LaCourse, Donna Pike and Kim Hansen.

During Memorial Day ceremonies Rose Moulton and Joyce Clifford will be flag bearers.

Kay Moulton and Eliane Rogers will serve as guards, and Marilyn Jones will lay a wreath at Withall Park. Donna Pike will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Kim Hansen will be in charge of children, handing out flags, and Ethel LaCourse will be in charge of refreshments.

Poppy girl will be Deanna Merchant.

The unit will purchase a scrapbook and disposable camera for historian Merchant.

Lucille Allen suggested that members bring a card or postcard to the June meeting to send to Pat Tibbets’ grandson, serving in Iraq.
