RUMFORD – With less than a month to go, the Rumford Hospital annual appeal 2003-2004 is $7,500 short of its goal. “We have pledges for another $3,500,” said Development Committee Chairman Don Cummings, “but we are still looking to our community to step forward and fill the gap.”

In addition to funding the purchase of several pieces of vital medical equipment, the 2003-2004 annual appeal aims to contribute $20,000 toward the renovation of three rooms on the hospital’s third floor to become an expanded oncology suite. The number of patients its serves has tripled since the service began seven years ago.

“The oncology suite is key to patients with cancer and other people who need infusion services,” said Cummings, “so they can get treatment right here in Rumford and not have to travel to Lewiston.”

More information about the annual appeal and remittance envelopes are available in waiting rooms throughout the hospital or by calling Community Relations at 369-1143.
