LEWISTON – Albert J. Bellas, 85, of 84 Ferry Road in Lisbon died June 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lisbon Falls Feb. 27, 1919, the son to Julius and Mary Hasry Bellas.

He was educated in New Jersey schools where his family made their home while he was a young boy.

On Aug. 27, 1949, he married the former Dorothy D. Dobrowolski in Elizabeth, N.J. She passed away on Oct. 14, 1996.

He served in the United States Army during World War II where he received American Service Medal, the European-African- Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

After his service to the country he and his wife made their home in Lisbon. In Lisbon, he ran and operated his own poultry farm known as the Bellas Farm.

He was a member of the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lisbon which is now Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Lisbon Falls Council 2358, where he served as former Grand Knight.

Among his interests were gardening, and tending to his home.

His greatest pleasure in life, however, was the time he spent with his family. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan and her husband Patrick Ventrone of Hillsboro, Ohio; two sons, Thomas Bellas of Lisbon, and James and his wife Deborah Bellas of Maineville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Amy and her husband Jeremy Rasdall of Rock Springs, Wyo., Adam Bellas of Winter Spring, Fla., and their mother, Judy Bellas; two sisters; and two brothers.
