AUBURN – Ed Desgrosseliers, Auburn City Democratic Committee chairman, and his wife, Sheila, were presented with the Vivian Powell Award at the Maine Democratic Convention recently.

The award is given to one or more persons in recognition of their outstanding contribution as volunteers in the past 12 months. Ed and Sheila are members of the State Democratic Committee and the Democratic State Platform Committee. Ed is on the Rules Committee and is a Dean delegate to the national convention. Sheila was on the Convention Committee.

The couple organized and directed the Elly Bennett Rebuilding Committee to rebuild a house that had been destroyed by fire.

They organized and directed the Twin Cities for One Maine, a program to raise funds for the workers in Millinocket who lost their jobs when the mills closed.

The pair serve as members of the Lewiston and Auburn Homeless Committee. Ed is a member of the Cable TV Committee for the city of Auburn, and Sheila is a regent for the Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
