FRYEBURG – The Oxford County Democrats will meet June 24 at the American Legion Hall on Bradley Street in Fryeburg, starting with a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by speakers and a business meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting was originally planned for Porter and has been changed. State Sen. Ethan Strimling of Portland, founder of A Rising Tide, a group devoted to increasing political participation, will be the speaker.

The group’s executive director, Corey Haskell, will also be present.

Reports will be given by Roy Gedat of Norway, candidate for House of Representatives, and Karen Lipiatos of Lovell on the Camp Wellstone training they recently attended in New Hampshire. Camp Wellstone is operated by the foundation established in memory of the late U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone and his wife for the purpose of developing grassroots activism.

County Chairwoman Cathy Newell will lead the business meeting, which will include a report on the state convention, election of state committee representatives and planning for summer events.
