LEWISTON – The Lewiston School Nutrition Program, in cooperation with the city recreation program, will offer a free summer food service program for children. Breakfast and lunch will be served on weekdays at the following locations: Multi-Purpose Center, Kennedy Park, Potvin Park, Sunnyside Park, Hillview Apartments and Camp Smiles.

All meals will meet the federal government guidelines and will be served June 21 through Aug. 13 at the park sites. The Multi-Purpose Center program will end Aug. 6. All meals must be eaten at the site, as participants are not allowed to remove food from the parks or playgrounds.

On rainy days, the children will be served at the Multi-Purpose Center. No meals will be served on July 4.

This is the 17th year for the program, which continues to be a joint effort of two Lewiston departments, which expects to serve 400 children daily in the federally funded service.

Free meals are provided to attending children 18 and under, without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or handicap.
