SABATTUS – Jessica Ouellette, daughter of Nancy Ouellette of Sabattus, has been awarded the 2004 Sabattus Fire Department scholarship.

The scholarship, designed to promote an interest in the fire service, is given to an Oak Hill High School senior who is entering the fire science field, who is a son or daughter of a Sabattus firefighter or has been involved in volunteer organizations or clubs while in high school.

Ouellette, whose mother Nancy is a niece of 50-year SFD member Harry Dixon, served as class secretary for three years, played field hockey, tennis and basketball and participated in the OHLA, the civil rights team, drama, Latin Club, ski club, Androscoggin Valley Educational Collaborative and senior finance.

She was also inducted into the National Honor Society and was named to the “Who’s Who Among High School Students” in academics and athletics.

Ouellette will attend the University of Rhode Island in the fall. She plans to enter the field of pharmaceuticals.
