LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education announces courses for the summer, with registration beginning immediately.

Academic courses include algebra II, running from July 6 to Aug. 5. The class will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. The course meets Algebra II college prerequisite requirements.

Contemporary fiction will be held from June 29 to Aug. 5 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. The course will explore themes in contemporary fiction through the study of various genres. It may be taken for high school academic credit.

Two college preparatory courses will be offered. Both classes meet for six weeks. Math refresher will start Wednesday, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. English refresher will begin Tuesday, June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. Both are designed to help adults who would like a review prior to taking college placement tests.

General Educational Development testing will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting June 29 and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays. The GED prep class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.Tuesdays starting June 29. Students must be at least 18 to begin GED testing. Accommodations in testing are available for adults with documented physical disabilities as well as learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and emotional or psychological disabilities. A ParaPro Preparation course for educational technicians will be offered for six weeks from 3 to 6 p.m. starting Monday, June 28.

Several computer courses will be offered this summer. Computers for Complete Beginners will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays for six weeks starting July 1.

A keyboarding refresher course will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays for six weeks beginning June 28. The course is intended for individuals who have had typing or keyboarding experience in the past but who need to update skills and build speed up to 20 words a minute.

A keyboarding II class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays for six weeks starting June 29. The prerequisite for keyboarding II is keyboarding I or the ability to type 20 words a minute.

An American Red Cross certified baby-sitting class will be offered the week of July 26. The course will meet from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It will include infant and child CPR and stress responsibility and safety.

An introduction to photography class will be offered for five weeks beginning Tuesday, June 29. The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. and is limited to 12 students. A 35-millimeter camera with exposure controls is required.

A fiction writing workshop will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays starting July 1. The purpose is to give people interested in writing a chance to share ideas, discuss style and substance and work on character development and dialogue.

A drawing and painting skills class will meet for five weeks beginning June 30. The class will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will begin with drawing and expand to include watercolor and/or acrylic painting. Students will be able to choose their preferred medium.

A crafting memoirs class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays starting June 29. Students will get the tools they need to preserve their treasured memories and important life events for generation to come.
