AUBURN – Shaw’s/Star Supermarkets Inc. announces that Kurtis J. Petersons of Mechanic Falls, Poland Regional High School class of 2001, and a senior at the University of Maine Orono, class of 2005, has been selected as a recipient of a Shaw’s scholarship.
Petersons is attending the University of Maine in Orono, class of 2005. He is vice president of the Economic Student Association, a member of Spiffy and a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international society in economics.
Petersons is pursuing a major in financial economics. He is the son of Eriks and Nancy Petersons of Mechanic Falls.
Shaw’s/Star operate more than 200 supermarkets in the New England area, and has been offering student scholarships for more than 40 years. This year Shaw’s will offer $300,000 in scholarships to 200 students. Mike Chiarantona reports that recipients of these scholarships demonstrate high scholastic achievements, high standards of job performance and potential to succeed in college.
