TURNER – SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education of Greene, Leeds and Turner is offering a wide variety of summer enrichment classes.

Classes scheduled for June, July and August include the following:

CPR/First Aid: A class for day-care providers, teachers, bus drivers or anyone wanting to know basic first aid. It will be held June 21, 23 and 25 and cover adult, child/infant CPR and first aid. Upon completion, participants receive a card certification good for two years. A second class will be held July 19, 21 and 23.

CPR for Friends and Family: An introduction to CPR for those with family members at risk will be held Tuesday, June 22. Both adult and pediatric CPR and choking will be covered. A class for new parents, grandparents and baby-sitters. It will also be offered on July 20.

Spanish for Beginners II: Beginning June 28 for eight weeks, continue an exercise in learning Spanish.

French for Beginners I: Whether shopping in local stores or visiting Quebec, France or the Caribbean, French is widely used. Sign up for an e-week class beginning June 29.

Spanish for Beginners I: Get in touch with a language that’s getting to be present in almost all aspects of life. An eight-week class for beginners starts June 30.

French for Beginners II: Learn to be more at ease in a French-speaking milieu for business, social meetings or travel. An eight-week class begins July 1.

Driver Education: Karen’s Driving School presents two series of classes. One from July 12 to 29 and another Aug. 2 to 19. Each consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of driving. Students need to bring their original birth certificate and Social Security card to first class.

Beginner Dog Obedience: Correction of behavior problems will be offered during the six-week course beginning July 15.

Paper Gift Boxes: Spend a few relaxing hours from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, with Jolene Brooks learning how to make several Japanese paper gift boxes. Simple, but lovely and elegant boxes are made from colorful card stock paper.

Container Gardening: Wednesday night, July 14, Barbara Stewart will show how to grow flowers in containers.

Beginning Computer: An opportunity to learn basic computer skills using Windows 98 and XP. Instructions will be on how to access programs such as Microsoft Office, word processing and the Internet. The three-night class begins Tuesday, July 20.

Pouf People: This is a no-sew fabric doll, with a wooden head that can be painted. On Wednesday, July 21, Jolene Brooks will help participants create a doll.

Reflexology: Reflexology is a healing art with years of history behind it. Learn how the form of massage makes the body feel stress-free during a one-night class on July 28.

Basic Garden Design: A three-evening class of basic garden design begins Aug. 2 at Sunny Side Gardens, North Parish Road, Turner. Instructor Edith Ellis will teach how to deal with weeds, pests and flower bed renovation.
