LEWISTON – Althea W. Foster, 78, died Saturday, June 19, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on Aug. 20, 1925, the daughter of Harry S. and Gladys Holt Wilson. A graduate of Mechanic Falls High School in 1943, she had worked at several local industries in Lewiston, Auburn and Norway.

She attended the Methodist Church in Mechanic Falls. She was a member of the Mechanic Falls Senior Citizens. On March 9, 1991, she joined the Dwinal Chapter 28 Order of the Eastern Star in Mechanic Falls. She was married to the late Albert R. Foster.

Among her special interests were knitting, doing puzzles and watching the hummingbirds outside her window.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Talmadge (Norma) Crabtree of Mechanic Falls; she was Gram to David Taylor and his companion Beverly Lombard of Auburn, Thomas Taylor of Mechanic Falls and Mrs. James (Cynthia) Polisky of Auburn; she was Nana to her great-grandchildren, Austin, Ethan and Brandon Polisky of Auburn who were the light of her life; a brother, Harry W. Wilson and his wife Beverly of Mechanic Falls; a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Martin of Oxford; stepgranddaughter, Mrs. Cheryl Piper and her husband Donald of Minot; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Brittian, Eric and Paige; stepgranddaughter, Deborah Marston and her companion Donnie Covert of Auburn; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jamie, Kayla, Tamarah, and Donovan; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
