FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) – The New England Patriots signed fourth-round draft choice Dexter Reid and free agent defensive tackle DeVonte Peterson on Tuesday.

Reid, 23, a safety out of North Carolina, is the first of the team’s 2004 draft choices to sign.

He was selected 113th overall, the first of the team’s two fourth-round selections.

The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Reid was a two-time all-ACC selection at North Carolina, where he had 466 career tackles, four sacks and three interceptions.

Peterson, 26, originally signed with the Buffalo Bills as a rookie free agent in 2001. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound defensive tackle also played for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe and the Indianapolis Colts, who waived him last August.
