LEWISTON – The Good Shepherd Food Pantry invites the Greater Lewiston/Auburn area to help end hunger in the community.

Schools are out for the summer and each year the pantry experiences a greater need to provide lunches to the children in Lewiston/Auburn.

Here are some facts:

For a donation of $5, the Good Shepherd Food Pantry could feed an entire family for one day.

The Good Shepherd Food Pantry is able to visit the FoodBank in Auburn each day to retrieve food and pays a shared maintenance fee of 16 cents a pound.

The Good Shepherd Food Pantry distributes food to 900 families a month, which includes more than 600 children.

Good Shepherd Food Pantry volunteers will visit several area locations to pick up donations throughout the summer. To involve an organization, call the Pantry at 786-4909.

Suggested (nonperishable) food items: peanut butter, juice (boxes or cans), jam, canned pasta, marshmallow, packaged meals, tuna fish, macaroni and cheese, canned fruits, soup/noodle packs, crackers, condiments and packaged snacks.
