DURHAM – “Thunder Moon,” the sixth annual Androscoggin River canoe race, will take place Sunday, July 11, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Durham boat launch.

The race, which is part of neighboring Lisbon’s annual Moxie Festival, is expected to attract more than 100 paddlers in various watercraft, primarily canoes and kayaks. With various categories, it’s an event for all skill levels, organizers said.

Race-day registration will begin at the launch site at 9 a.m. The organizers suggest being registered no later than 10:15 to ensure being on the river by the 11 a.m. start.

The six-mile race ends at the Sabattus River railroad trestle at Route 196 in Lisbon Falls.

Registration is $12 per person. People who register before July 7 will receive a “Thunder Moon” T-shirt. A complimentary lunch will be provided at the race finish.
