SABATTUS – Lewiston Emblem Club 528 visited the Sabattus Elementary and Middle School for the annual Flag Day celebration on June 14.
As part of the ceremonies, Emblem President Kathleen Cotterly and Past President Jackie Asselin presented a new American flag to school Principal Beverly Coursey and School Union 44 Superintendent Paul Malinski for the new middle school under construction.
“When we heard about their new middle school being built, we felt it was the right thing to do, as one of our purposes as an organization is to promote Americanism. Presenting it on Flag Day made it even more special,” Cotterly said.
The Emblem Club is affiliated with the Lewiston Lodge of Elks 371 and supports the community through several charitable programs, including drug awareness, literacy, Americanism and scholarships.
