Lake association

POLAND – The 31st annual meeting of the Tripp Lake Improvement Association will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Ricker Memorial Library. Coffee, doughnuts and bagels will be served.

Election of officers, a short business meeting and a raffle drawing for 20 items will take place at 9. Raffle tickets may be purchased before the drawing and dues may be paid.

Speakers will be Maggie Shannon, executive director of the Congress of Lake Associations, talking about upcoming legislation and the work of COLA. Michael Fralich, teacher and nature writer, will speak about environmental issues. Those wishing can also buy association caps and shirts.

AUBURN – The Penley Corner Church will hold its annual service at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at the church on Riverside Drive. The Rev. Nathan Colson of the Turner Village Church will be the guest speaker. Colin Britt will perform musical numbers. Elaine Penley Ordway will be in charge of the guest book, Elizabeth Vickery will take care of programs, and Maurice and Charles Penley will be ushers.

Library reopens

AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library reopens to the public at its temporary quarters at the Auburn Mall on Monday, July 12. The library’s summer hours are Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Starting July 12, borrowed library materials may be returned after hours in the Auburn Public Library’s outdoor return box found at the entrance nearest the customer information booth that is located in the center of the mall.

Stagecoach routes

BOWDOIN – The Bowdoin Historical Society will meet on Sunday, July 11, at the Bowdoin Community Building on Route 125. A potluck supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6. Bill Barr of Lisbon Falls will give the program on stagecoach routes in Bowdoin. The public is welcome.

Youth program

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Congregational Church and St. Gregory Catholic Church are teaming up for a special program for youngsters from preschool through grade six from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 to 13 at the Congregational Church. There will be singing, dancing, drama, games, art and stories. Tour guides are needed. Adults and teenagers are encouraged to volunteer.
