LEWISTON – Volunteers are still needed for the Festival de Joie to be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31 and Aug. 1, at Railroad Park. A meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 150 East Ave.

Prelude 2004, which will take place Wednesday and Thursday, July 28 and 29, along Lisbon Street, still has space for food vendors from 5 to 10:30 p.m. those nights.

Opening ceremonies will kick activities off at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the new Courthouse Plaza on Lisbon Street. A parade will follow at 7.

Museum L-A in the old Bates Mill, the Maine Heritage Weavers in the old Hill Mill and the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s will hold open houses and tours during the festival. Museum L-A and the heritage center will also have booths at the festival grounds.

Recording artist Debbie Myers will be among those appearing at the 12th annual festival. The celebration will feature an expanded children’s play area, including games, prizes, moon bounces, face painting, balloon artistry and a dunk tank.
