FARMINGTON – Joseph and Glynnese Waite of Farmington celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary recently at a private dinner with their family.

Mr. Waite and the former Glynnese Farrington were married on June 16, 1949, at the Poland Spring Chapel. They were both employed at Poland Spring for that season.

Mrs. Waite graduated from Wilton Academy in 1947 and Bliss Business College in 1949. She worked for the New England Telephone Company for 12 years, until the Farmington office was closed. She was a professional waitress and worked for many local restaurants. She loved to travel and visited many parts of the world. Unfortunately, she suffered a disabling stroke on July 1, 1984. She has been a resident of the Sandy River Nursing Care Center since October of 1984.

Mr. Waite graduated from Mexico High School in 1944 and Bliss Business College in 1949. He worked for the Morton Motor Co. in Farmington for 20 years as office manager and bookkeeper. He then worked for the Knowlton and McLeary Co., printers in Farmington, for 15 years as cost estimator and treasurer.

They have three children, Steve of Rockland, Sandy Haskell of Farmington and Brenda Landry of Wilton. They also have three granddaughters, Casey Philbrick of Portland, Jessica Waite of Thomaston and Renee Landry of Wilton.
