LEWISTON – The art of belly dancing will be displayed by dance students this summer during performances in the area.

Dates include Friday, July 16, at 8 p.m., Sebago Days; Saturday, July 17, at 9 p.m., performing with Chad and the Gypsies at Harrison Olde Home Days; Wednesday, July 28, at 7 p.m., Festival Joie in Lewiston near the Club W! booth.

Imari will present her students, the Sahara Desert Dancers, performing her latest choreographed dances. The first dance is called “Sahara Sun,” and the second is titled “The Dance of the Golden Veil.”

Imari began teaching and performing 12 years ago in and around Boston and throughout New England. She was first taught by Gypsy Phillips and through the years she has developed her own personal teaching and performance style.

She has taught the art of modern belly dancing in the area and North Conway, N.H. Imari’s classes are hosted by Club W! of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Curves of North Conway, N.H., and the Ballroom in Harrison. For more information, call 207-647-2616.
