LEWISTON – What consultants do and how they do it effectively will be the focus of a course starting July 26 at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College. LOS 487, Organizational Consulting, offered through the leadership and organizational studies program, will cover topics such as consulting roles and strategies, the phases of consulting, self-assessment and ethical considerations.

Students will work in a team to apply organizational concepts and theories to a real-life organizational situation. Dr. Mary Lou Michael will be the instructor.

Dr. Michael brings to the classroom 25 years’ experience as an organizational development consultant, and has been teaching this course at LAC since 1997. She worked for the Unum Corporation for six years and has run her own business since 1986. Her clients have included corporations, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools and universities.

The course will be offered in a special one-week session, July 26 to 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will remain open until the first class meeting.
