LEWISTON – An introductory course in industrial organization management and supervision will be offered this fall at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

The course will include a study of the common elements of industry as it relates to the areas of research and development, industrial relations, production, financial control, marketing and labor. Management and supervisory theory and practices will be highlighted. Emphasis will also be placed upon contemporary issues/problems/trends associated with a global economy.

This course fulfills a requirement of the Industrial Technology (INT) “Option II” program, to prepare management-oriented technical professionals.

This three credit course (ITP 280) is offered at the LAC campus through the University’s Department of Technology, which is part of the College of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology. The class will meet Tuesdays, 4 to 6:30 p.m., and the first class will meet Sept. 2.

Harold Weisbein, Jr., who has taught a number of technology courses at LAC, will serve as the instructor. The course is open to qualified students who are not enrolled in the INT program.
