LIMINGTON – Rev. Clyde William Park Sr., 85, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, July 22.

He was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Sigel, Pa., the son of Harry and Eleanor Hughey Park. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1937 and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics as a licensed aircraft mechanic in June, 1940.

He worked for Curtiss Wright Aeronautics of Buffalo, N.Y. and while there, he met Alys Jane Holden of Buffalo. They married in September of 1941.

He served during World War II in the Naval Air Force as an aircraft maintenance instructor in Memphis, Tenn.

After the war, he graduated from Barrington Bible College with a bachelor’s degree in theology, beginning 50-plus years of service in the ministry. Rev. Park served full time in churches in Somerset and Lynn, Mass., and in Hollis Center, Mexico, Brunswick, Hermon and East Waterboro. He also served as an interim minister in several other churches in Maine.

He served on the board of directors at Glen Cove Bible College, the State Board of Child Evangelism Fellowship, the Western Maine CEF Committee, and the Camp Good News Committee.

Recent years were spent at his home, which he built for Jane and his retirement home, and family gathering place on “the pond.”

After the passing of his wife, Jane, in March of 1989, he married Virginia Goodyke of Farmington, who died in March, 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Allen Park; a sister, Margret; a daughter, Bonnie Stevens; sons, Clyde Park Jr., Stephen Park and Timothy Park; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, Ira and Harry; and his sister, Phyllis.
