WATERFORD – Fine dining, a goods and services auction, and a musical Sunday will highlight SummerFest 2004 from July 30 to Aug. 1. Hosted by the Waterford Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, it is open to the Oxford Hills community.

An elegant dinner will precede an auction offering boat cruises, gift certificates, antiques, and many surprises at 6 p.m. Friday at the Wilkins Community House on Plummer Hill Road in Waterford Village. A prepaid donation of $10 per person will reserve a seat for the dinner and auction.

Tickets may be obtained by calling Karen at 583-6526 or Joann at 583-4673. Seating is limited to 80 people.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a rehearsal for the Community Choir that will be featured at 9:30 a.m. at the Sunday worship service at the church on Plummer Hill Road. Singers are welcome to join the choir and may do so or obtain more information by calling Jane at 583-4502 or Meg at 583-2509.

SummerFest 2004 will conclude with a special concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the church. Vocal Solution, a well-known a cappella octet made up of men and women from the Oxford Hills, Poland and Bridgton areas, will perform the first half of the concert. Their repertoire ranges from Renaissance madrigals to traditional spirituals and contemporary arrangements.

Forest Perkins, chairman of the Fine Arts Department at Hebron Academy, director of music and organist for the First Universalist Church in South Paris, will be featured at the organ the second half of the concert. He will be joined by flutist Renee Wales, who plays regularly with Perkins at the South Paris church. Perkins will perform on the recently restored church organ.

Concert tickets are a $10 donation and are available at Melby’s restaurant and Springer’s store in Waterford, Books-N-Things in Oxford, Chao Thai Restaurant in Bridgton, or by calling Karen at 583-6526 or Joann at 583-4673. Proceeds from the dinner, auction and concert will benefit the continuing activities of the Waterford Congregational Church.
