OXFORD – Police were searching for a man who held up the Citgo gas station at Oxford Plaza on Route 26 on Thursday night.

Oxford police Lt. John Tibbetts said a man “went in, showed a handgun, locked the attendant in the bathroom and ran off with the money.”

The lone attendant was not hurt, he said.

The amount of cash taken in the 9:40 p.m. armed robbery was not disclosed.

The man took off in a vehicle toward Alpine Street, Tibbetts said, adding there were three witnesses to the heist.

Oxford, Norway, Paris, Oxford County and Maine State police were searching for a white man, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighing 160 pounds. A description of his clothing and vehicle was not released.
