PARIS – Trips, furniture, jewelry, garden ornaments, sports and spa opportunities will be offered at The Garden of Earthly Delights Auction on Aug. 14.
It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the McLaughlin Foundation’s Horticultural and Garden Center at 97 Main St. The event will benefit the foundation.
Ralph Pride of Cross Jewelers, who has donated jewelry to the event every year, is making a special contribution this year: the Maine Trillium Tourmaline Ring. It was inspired by a spring visit a Cross jewelry artist made to Bernard McLaughlin’s garden.
Maine artisans and manufacturers like Thomas Moser, Bradco and Old Town Canoe are donating Maine-made items this year. Area artists Polly Hayton, Judith Kinsman and Lois Strickland are donating paintings. Garden tools and ornaments, trees and planters are also offered.
Opportunities from golfing to spa stays to fine dining will be offered at the event, which includes a silent and a live auction. Jim Cyr of Cyr Auctions will be the auctioneer.
Several trips have been donated, including a week in Selkirk, Scotland; a week in Provence; a week on Marco Island; a week in Paris, France; a week in St. Augustine; a Vermont farm stay; and two nights in a bed-and-breakfast in Washington, D.C. in a four-poster bed George Washington slept in.
The evening will end with a surprise raffle organized and presented by Frank Shorey.
Tickets for the evening, which includes foods by Bethel’s Good Food Store, are $50 per person and are available at the McLaughlin Foundation Gift Shop, or by calling 743-8820.
