DIXFIELD – The Mountain Valley Longbeards’ chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will sponsor “Women in the Outdoors” classes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Webb River Valley Sportsman’s Club. The event is open to teenage girls and women, ages 14 and older.

The classes will include fly fishing, archery, shotguns, lure making, Dutch oven cooking, dog training, tracking, outdoor photography, knot tying, game calling and scrap-booking. The fee is $45. To register, contact Bonnie Smith, 364-9054. For more information, see www.nwtf.org.

Peru cemetery group seeking members

PERU – The Demerritt Cemetery Association has been revived and is seeking new members. Lots are being repaired, and a caretaker has been hired. At the moment, lots are not being sold but members have begun making contact with the property owners to get things moving again, according to the association.

Association members don’t have to be Peru residents. Anyone interested in joining the association may contact Rodney Jamison at 562-8799.
