NORWAY – A dispute between two Norway property owners was deemed a private matter by the Norway Board of Selectmen Thursday.

Selectmen convened at the Hobbs Pond property of Steven Siskowitz before their regular meeting Thursday. Siskowitz in July appealed to the board for help with a property dispute, saying neighbors had wrongfully altered their property and caused water to flow onto his land.

The changes, said his lawyer, Elliot Epstein of Lewiston, were in violation of the original subdivision plan.

Norway’s code enforcement officer, Jeff Van Decker, had previously visited the properties in question and declared the dispute a private matter.

Selectmen on Thursday agreed, according to Town Manager David Holt. He said the board does not intend to take any action on the issue at this time.

However, Holt said, “We did make some suggestions about things both individuals can do.”
