NORWAY – Stone-Smart Unit 82 Auxiliary, American Legion, received several awards at the Department of Maine American Legion Convention in Augusta on June 17 to 20.

Awards included a plaque for outstanding Americanism and a plaque from Second District President Elaine Rogers for being the first to reach 100 percent membership for 2003-04.

The group received a certificate in recognition of outstanding dedication to the work of National Blind Camps and a third-place award for outstanding service and assistance that contribute to the advancement of the auxiliary’s children and youth program.

Barbara Henley received a certificate of appreciation for outstanding support of Togus and veterans home. Certificates were presented from the Second District president, from the Department of Maine and from the National American Legion Auxiliaries for 100 percent membership.

The group received a certificate of appreciation for outstanding work from the department chaplain, and junior activities certificates of participation were given to Shella Sessions and Melissa Sessions for their volunteer hours in the community.

Delegates attending the convention were Joyce Bickford, Joyce Clifford, Lucille Allen and Kim Hansen. Delegates-at-large were Ruth Jucius, past department president, past Eastern Division vice president and past assistant director of Girl State, and Rogers. Ethel LaCourse served as Second District president’s page.
