LISBON – VFW Post 9459, Route 196, will hold the monthly clean-up at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15. Inside and outside work will be done, and all are invited to help.

The post and auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the post home. The agenda will include the Red Cross blood drive, the Labor Day barbecue and a welcome home event for the 94th MPs. All members are invited, and new members are welcome.

Seniors picnic

AUBURN – The First Auburn Seniors will meet Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park, for the annual picnic. The New Auburn Seniors will join them for games, bingo and a barbecue lunch.

On Aug. 4, President Betty Hebert announced the fall fair will take place Saturday, Oct. 9, at Pettengill Park. Both September meetings will be held at the American Legion Hall on Washington Street.

Attendance winners were Maxine Sidelinger and Virginia Hyam; pot of gold, Caroline Chapman, Frances Wentworth and Martha Goodwin. Bingo was played after a bag lunch.

Annual event

AUBURN – The New Auburn Senior Citizens will attend the annual picnic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, with the First Auburn Seniors at the Hasty Memorial Armory. Coffee and doughnuts will be served in the morning and at noon there will be a barbecue.

The regular meeting was held Wednesday, Aug. 4, with Virginia Levasseur, president, presiding. August birthdays were noted with the “Birthday Song” sung and small gifts given.

The group will return to dinners in September and the next regular meeting will be Sept. 1. Pot of gold winners were Jackie Roy, Roland Roberge, Rita Beaucage and Norman Gagnon.

Seniors Fun Day

LEWISTON – “A Salute to the Armed Forces” will be the theme for the Lewiston Senior Citizens Fun Day to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at the American Legion Hall, Washington Street, Auburn.

Bingo will be played from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a buffet lunch and a variety of indoor and outdoor games.

Present Company will entertain during the afternoon and prizes will be awarded.

Drivers needed

LEWISTON – SeniorsPlus is looking for volunteer drivers to assist in the Around Town Program. Volunteers would provide rides to appointments, shopping, errands and social functions for seniors. Reimbursement is 32 cents a mile. Call 795-4010 for details.
