PORTLAND – Nancy Beth Scribner Bessey, 79, formerly of South Paris died Thursday, Aug. 12, at Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Albany on May 19, 1925, the daughter of Fred E. and Nancie L. Stone Scribner. She graduated from Paris High School and had been a homemaker and childcare provider.

She enjoyed needlecraft, knitting, crocheting and reading. She married Allan S. Bessey, he passed away in 1973.

She is survived by her children, Mary Lou Bessey, of Otisfield, Bethany Sue Tielinen and her husband, Chris, of Otisfield, Nancy Bessey Wilkinson, of South Paris, Roberta Bessey, of New York City, N.Y., Rose Lee Ricci and her husband, John, of Portland, Kathleen Jean Childs and her husband, Albert, of Schoodic Lake, Fred Bessey and his wife, Mindy, of Waterford and Lynn Herrick and her husband, Walter, of East Oxford; eight grandchildren, Melissa Harper, Matthew Harper, Amy Bessey, Nicole Bessey, Justin Brown, Jamie Brown, Corey Tielinen and Lucia Ricci; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Harper and Harper Logan McConnell; and two nephews, David Scribner, of South Portland and Dale Scribner, of North Andover, Mass.

She was predeceased by a son, Kevin in 1983.
