GREENE – Michael Perry will present a slide program on “Maine’s Allagash Wilderness Waterway” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, and 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Sawyer Memorial, 371 Sawyer Road.

Perry is founder-director of Dreams Unlimited, specializing in multi-media slide programs about the fun of traveling. As a writer and photographer he has written many articles about the outdoors for national publications.

During his 20-year career at L.L. Bean Perry founded and managed the Outdoor Discovery School, the outdoor education component of L.L. Bean. The school shares instructional lessons and workshops for customers.

Perry was one of the first recipients of the “Bean’s Best” award, given annually to those L.L. Bean employees selected by their peers who excel in the area of customer, profit or productivity. Perry was honored for his excellence in the customer category.

He enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities. He and his wife have biked across the United States three times, the most recently from San Francisco to Philadelphia.

Perry also enjoys sea kayaking, canoeing, hiking and cross country skiing. He has climbed Alaska’s Mount McKinley, participated in the 1990 Mount Everest Peace Climb, paddled his sea kayak from Maine to New York City and run in the Boston Marathon three times.

He is a 1974 graduate of Bowdoin College and lives with his wife, Chris, and black lab, Mandee, in Freeport.
