LEWISTON – Michael Anthony Malia, 61, of 23 Spoffard St., Lewiston, died Friday, Aug. 20, at d’Youville Pavilion after a lingering illness.

He was born Aug. 1, 1943, the son of James and Anna Lawless Malia. He was educated in Lewiston, then served in the United States Army.

After returning from the service, he became a truck driver. He was a member of the Trucker’s Union. His most recent employer was Overnight Express.

He was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sports. He loved playing golf and watching it on television. He was a member of the BMB pit crew, and loved to go to the races at Oxford Plains Speedway.

He is survived locally by his niece, Diane Callahan; and nephews, Tom Malia and Tim Malia. He is also survived by a brother, Richard, of Garland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews in Texas.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Gerald W. and James W.; and one sister, Beverly Dale.

The family wishes to thank his longtime friend, Patrick Lebel, for all he has done.
