OXFORD – The nomination period for the 2004 Farm Service Agency County Committee elections closes on Sept. 3. Farmers are encouraged to obtain a nomination form from the Oxford County FSA office , or online at http://forms.sc.egov.usda.gov/eforms/mainservlet.
FSA county committees give local producers a voice in how the agency’s programs are administered in the community. They play an important role by making decisions on commodity, conservation and disaster programs, along with providing guidance on a host of other important agricultural issues. Committee members serve three-year terms.
Almost anyone eligible to participate in an FSA program and who is of legal voting age may be a candidate. Individuals may nominate themselves or others.
Nominations will be accepted until Sept. 3. Voting takes place between Nov. 8 and Dec. 6. Producers can learn more about FSA county committees by visiting the Oxford County FSA office or online at www.fsa.usda.gov.
