LEWISTON – A parenting class, “1,2,3,4 Parents!,” sponsored by Advocates for Children, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 9 to 23, at Advocates for Children, B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St., Suite 204.
The three-week course will use videos and group discussion to help parents learn skills for parenting a young child. The course was written by national parenting experts who understand the challenges of being a mom or dad.
The workshop will teach parents discipline methods that work, how to prevent temper tantrums, how to make rules that a child will follow, routines to make life easier and ways to take care of themselves. Participants will receive a parent’s workbook and a tips booklet to take home.
Parents wanting more information or to register should call 783-3990.
A second session will be offered from Oct. 18 to Nov. 1 at SAD 52 in Turner. To register, contact Turner Adult Education at 225-2560.
Child care is available for both classes. A fee of $10.95 for the required parent handbook will be collected on the first night of class. Registration is required because space is limited.
