BUCKFIELD – The Oxford County Republicans were out in numbers for the Buckfield Labor Day celebration on Sept. 6.

Senate Candidate Rob Cameron had a large float decorated with American flags and lawn signs. Diane and Brian Mitchell were on the float passing out candy and pencils to the crowd. Bruce Hanley candidate for District 94, which includes Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner, also had a large float with his name on it.

Other Republican candidates participating in the day’s events were Rep. Joan Bryant-Deschenes and county commissioner candidate Dave Duguay. On the grounds, former State Sen. Norm Ferguson was manning the Republican booth, complete with banners, balloons, buttons and other handout material.

County Commissioner Steve Merrill and candidate Dave Duguay will be speakers at the Oxford County Republican Committee meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Congregational Church (Green Church) in Mexico.

The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting and speakers.

Volunteers are still needed for the booth at Fryeburg Fair on Oct. 3 to 10. Anyone willing to help is asked to call Becky Kendall at 824-3196. Volunteers are always needed at the county headquarters at 333 Main St., Norway. Call co-coordinator Erlon Jones at 739-2350 or e-mail [email protected] for information and to offer help.
