LEWISTON – The local chapter of Association Canado-Americaine will resume meetings at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Frye School Retired Persons Hall, 140 Horton St. Members and guests are invited.
Ostomy meeting
LEWISTON – Androscoggin Ostomy will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. The speaker will be from Coloplast.
Garden club
AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union Garden Club will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 16, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. Member Jeanne Pacheco will give an overview of the club’s garden and explain future landscaping projects. Tonie Ramsey and Phyllis Splain are in charge of hospitality. Refreshments will be served, guests are welcome.
Seniors lunch
AUBURN – The United Methodist Church will hold its first Senior Citizens and Friends Luncheon of the season Tuesday, Sept. 21.
Ken Fernald, gospel singer, will provide entertainment at 11:30 a.m. followed by a meal at 12:15 p.m. Fernald has appeared every year since the luncheons began.
Anyone interested in attending a luncheon should call 782-3972 to make a reservation by Sept. 17. The luncheons take place the third Tuesday of every month except in January, February, July and August.
Nature trip
AUBURN – Stanton Bird Club trip leaders Bonnie and Lew Soper will lead a late summer excursion from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, on North Pond in Norway. Waterfowl congregate on North Pond, sometimes in impressive numbers. Participants may bring their own canoe or kayak. They should check with the Sopers the night before if there is any question about weather cancellation.
The group will meet at the JC Penney parking lot in the Auburn Mall and will leave at 8:05 a.m. For more information, contact the Sopers at 966-3494. The trip is free and all are welcome.
VFW picnic
AUBURN – Commander Tom Trottier, Capt. Frank W. Hulett VFW Post, has announced plans for the annual post picnic at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, to honor all members of the post and those who served in Iraq. All members and their families are invited.
Bob Turcotte and Donald Linscott will cook hamburgers and hot dogs, and there will be music.
