LEWISTON – Laura Martel had an impressive outing with four goals as Lewiston blanked Skowhegan 8-0 in girls’ soccer action Monday.

Martel, a midfielder for the Blue Devils, scored the first goal on a breakaway a little more than four minutes into the contest. Lewiston (3-0) led 5-0 at the half.

The Indians (0-3) were kept on the defensive for most of the game and were limited to four shots. Allison Coleman deflected all four to pick up her third shutout in as many games for Lewiston.

St. Dom’s 1, Poland 0

POLAND – With 3:50 remaining in the first half, Kristen Ruby netted the lone goal of the game to lift St. Dom’s to a 1-0 victory over Poland in field hockey action Monday afternoon.

Ruby picked up the ball off of goalkeeper Elsie Cummings’ pads after much confusion in front of the cage, and netted the winning tally for the Saints (4-0).

Cummings had a strong day in the net for the Knights (0-3), turning away 25 of 26 shots on goal.

Winthrop 4, Boothbay 0

WINTHROP – Elyse Cole notched a pair of goals as Winthrop sailed to a 4-0 victory over Boothbay.

The Ramblers (4-0) took control early as Nicole Emery and Sarah Cook tallied a goal each in the first half. Cole added to the margin on a penalty kick with five minutes remaining and locked up the win following a scramble in front of the net.

Lorena Borjas turned back 12 shots for the Seahawks (1-3), while Lindsay Laflamme stopped four to earn the win for Winthrop.

Mtn. Valley 5, Dirigo 0

RUMFORD – Kaly Bernard collected a pair of goals as Mountain Valley spun a 5-0 triumph over Dirigo.

The Falcons (1-3) got their offense warmed up with an unassisted goal in the first half from Kelly Palmer. Following Bernard’s consecutive pair, Michelle Woods and Amanda Gallant buried a goal apiece to round out the scoring.

Dani Tompkins was busy in goal with 18 saves for the Cougars (0-4), while Kim Clark batted away a pair for the shutout.

Telstar 2, Lisbon 1

LISBON – With less than a minute remaining in regulation, Mallory Brown converted a Jillian Kimball feed to keep Telstar unbeaten with a 2-1 victory over Lisbon.

The Greyhounds (3-1) drew first blood in the first half when Erica Merritt found the back of the net on a relay from Emily Poliquin. Kayla Mills tied the contest nine minutes into the second half for the Rebels (4-0).

Beth Williams had four saves for Lisbon, while Heather Glonet earned the win with three saves for Telstar.

Yarmouth 1, Gray-NG 0

GRAY – Lauren Payne scored with 1:42 remaining in overtime to carry Yarmouth to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Gray-New Gloucester.

The Clippers (1-3) fought off nine shots on goal to secure the shutout. Samantha Bishop and Marsey Pendexter turned in a combined six saves in net for the Patriots (0-4).
