TOPSHAM – Edward Little’s Gina Gaetani scored the game-winning goal on a pass from Christin Keene as the Red Eddies defeated Mt. Ararat 4-2 in a KVAC field hockey matchup on Tuesday.
Christin Keene netted an insurance goal on a feed from Samantha Nickerson.
Edward Little (4-0) also recieved goals from Katie Bonney and Hannah Jacobs. Janina Brown and Michelle Glenn each scored a goal for the Eagles (0-3).
Messalonskee 3, Oxford Hills 0
OAKLAND – Amanda Barker posted two goals as Messalonskee topped Oxford Hills 3-0 in field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.
Melissa Oliver chipped in with a goal, while Lauren Suttie and Abby Churchill each recorded an assist for the Eagles (3-1).
Beth Ridley made four saves in net for Messalonskee, while Liza Chase turned away eight shots for the Vikings (2-2).
Lewiston 2, Brunswick 1
BRUNSWICK – Mina Moore found the back of the net on a pass from Danielle Lavoie in the second overtime period to lift Lewiston past Brunswick, 2-1, in a field hockey game Tuesday. Kate Prideaux scored the first goal for the Blue Devils (1-2).
Brittnay Elliot netted the only goal for Brunswick (0-3) on a feed from Brittany Lemieux.
Leavitt 2, Erskine 1
TURNER – With 1:56 left remaining in the contest, Sarah Quimby converted a pass from Tiffany Poland to find the back of the cage, lifting Leavitt to a 2-1 triumph over Erskine Academy Tuesday.
Hautumn Smith posted the first goal for the Hornets (2-2) off a pass from Jessica Paladino early in the first half of the game.
Erskine Academy’s (0-4) effort was paced by Kelsey Bushover, with assists by Jamie Gagnon and Kristen Burke.
Mt. Blue 3, Morse 2
BATH – Allison Frechette notched the game-winning goal, lifting Mt. Blue to a 3-2 victory over Morse Tuesday.
Frechette’s goal came off a corner. After Frechette hit it to the center of the circle, Heidi Judkins drove it to the goalie. Frechette picked it up off the goalie’s pads and tapped it in. Judkins and Michelle Oswald each chipped in with a goal for the Cougars (2-2).
Olivia Peterling and Lindsay Laamann each tallied a goal for the Shipbuilders (1-3).
MCI 4, Oak Hill 0
PITTSFIELD – Lana Smithner led MCI to a 4-0 victory over Oak Hill in field hockey action Tuesday afternoon. Laura Ditasquale, Korin Ingraham and Sarah Frost also scored for the Huskies (2-2) to complete the scoring.
Courtney Howe made 17 saves in net while posting the win.
Frankie Curtis turned away an impressive 19 shots in net for the Raiders (0-4), but received no support from the offense.
Soccer
Mt. Blue 2, Waterville 1
FARMINGTON – Amy Mansir scored on a feed from Ribecca Schoen to lift Mt. Blue to a 2-1 victory over Waterville in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday. Abby Martin also scored for the Cougars (1-3) to round out the tally.
Caitlin Scott made 12 saves in net to notch the win. Megan Willet netted the lone goal for the Panthers (1-3) with 30 minutes left in regulation. Kelly Landry turned away eight shots in net.
Georges Valley 3, Mt. Abram 0
SALEM – Georges Valley’s Molly Hoyt scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Buccaneers to a 3-0 win against Mt. Abram in MVC girls soccer action on Tuesday.
Hannah Yovino and Meghan Schooley also scored goals for Georges Valley (3-1). Briana Wilkins made six stops for Mt Abram (2-2).
Buckfield 4, Rangeley 1
BUCKFIELD – Candace Allen led the way with two goals, giving Buckfield a 4-1 victory over Rangeley Tuesday.
Tiffany Dunn and Alyssa Henderson also scored for the Bucks (2-2). Rangeley’s (1-1) lone goal was scored by Sarah Schrader. Justine Frost-Kolva made 12 saves for the Lakers.
Mountain Valley 4, Madison 1
RUMFORD – Kristen Arsenault tallied all four of Mountain Valley’s goals as the Falcons rolled past Madison to a 4-1 victory.
Kori Warren, Kaylee Rumley, Tanya Nichols, and Kirsten Arsenault all recorded assists for the Falcons’ (1-3) first win of the season. Ashley Pelletier was solid in goal for Mou
ntain Valley, making critical saves throughout the game to record the win.
The lone Bulldog (2-2) goal was netted by Rachel King off a penalty kick as a result of a handball in the penalty box.
Brunswick 2, Lewiston 0
BRUNSWICK – Tori Pelletier and Aimee Tetu each scored a goal Tuesday to lead Brunswick to a 2-0 victory over Lewiston in another KVAC girls’ soccer matchup. Tetu’s goal came in the second half to seal the win. Amanda Russo needed only three saves in net for the Dragons (3-0-1) to notch the win.
Allison Coleman turned away 12 shots in net for the Blue Devils (3-1).
EL 5, Medomak Valley 2
WALDOBORO – Elizabeth Esponnette scored a hat trick and had an assist to carry Edward Little to a 5-2 victory over Medomak Valley. Red Eddie’s (3-0-1) Kelsey Pettengill netted two goals.
Angie Abbott scored a goal for Medomak Valley (0-4). Brittnet French made five saves in net for the Eddies.
Dirigo 4, Carrabec 0
NORTH ANSON – Katie Hutchinson tallied a pair of goals as Dirigo rolled past Carrabec to a 4-0 win Tuesday afternoon.
Kayleigh Daley and Melissa Harvey each recorded a goal a piece for the Cougars. Dirigo allowed Carrabec to get only two shots on goal, in comparison to the Cougars 28 shots.
Oxford Hills 1, Mt. Ararat 0
TOPSHAM – Whitmey Linindell took a feed from Annie Foster and fired it into the net with 28:42 left in regulation to send Oxford Hills to a surprise 1-0 win over powerhouse Mt. Ararat in girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
Ali Fox made 11 saves as the Vikings (3-0) notched their first-ever victory over the Eagles (2-2). Jessica Stahl made a gallant effort in net for Mt. Ararat with nine saves.
Gorham 6, Poland 0
GORHAM – Kelsey Wilson and Kaitlyn Butterfield combined for four goals as Gorham defeated Poland 6-0 in WMC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
Shannon Martin and Sarah Shortill each had a goal for the Rams (1-1-1). Erica Bellanger turned away 25 shots in net for the Knights (0-3).
