LEWISTON – Lester F. Davis, 77, a resident of North Jay, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, at CMMC following a short illness.

He was born in Wilton on July 3, 1927, the son of Lester and Edna Nichols Davis and attended the Wilton schools. On May 29, 1953, he married Virginia Nichols in Livermore Falls.

He worked for the town of Livermore Falls as a member of the highway crew and police dispatcher. He also worked at the Winthrop & Wilton Woolen mills and Dirigo Dowel, retiring in 1997. He was a past member of the Livermore Falls Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years of North Jay; two daughters, Pamela Pray and her husband, Wane, of Jay and Vickie Dubay, of Wilton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Davis, of North Jay; and a sister, Ruth Sonier, of North Jay.

He was predeceased by a son, Michael Davis, a stepson, Stuart Smith, three brothers, Cecil, Richard and Lloyd Davis, a sister, Edna Wright, and a half-brother, Merwin Davis.
